Is it weird if I throw my own baby shower?

My family lives far from me. Email will shower gifts. And my husband's family does not run my shower after the baby is born … is a Jewish tradition (which is not likely to have before the baby). They shower soon unless someone else. But I want to be ready for the baby when she arrives. Is it bad taste in your shower?

For the shower, we make sandwiches, fruit, vegetables, sandwich plates, but we also want other finger foods that are creative and unique. Not exactly a topic and the guest list is about 45. Please help, I'm losing my mind!

Buy gifts for babyshower?

So I have a baby shower this weekend for my aunt's husband. I'm torn between buying a thing in the inscriptions or simply get useful baby items and create a care basket with things that I found useful. In the basket that includes things that Aquaphor lotion, diaper cream, a baby book of colors, rattle, teething ring, small things like that. The record is filled with great gifts lint with the exception of the face more things that are beyond my reach. So the question, I can suck and buy something something for the record is my price range, I'm afraid that will be considered useless, or is it acceptable to create a set of gift basket baby care? Is it right to purchase or registration departs for donations for the purchase of your own reflection?

I think the gift basket of things they find useful is a perfect idea. I know it's rather what I have. If this is your first baby the aunt of her husband, she may well have crossed the store with the gun registry zap that all what she thought was cute, not knowing if are really useful. Beginners (like me) have no experience on which to build. So with the gift basket. It's much more considered, personal gift of something random from a list, probably at random.
